Post Care Instructions

ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS – BOTULINUM TOXIN TYPE A

  • Do NOT rub or touch the treated area until the next morning. This includes not having any facial treatments, laser or massage for the next 14 days.
  • It is recommended you do NOT apply make up to the treatment area for 24 hours after the injection.
  • It is recommended you do NOT lie down for the next 4-6 hours.
  • Avoid any exposure to any heat treatments such as saunas, hot tubs and/or tanning for 48 hoursas it will make your treatment less effective.
  • Paracetamol is recommended for any headaches or pain. Try to avoid medicines such asIbuprofen (Neurofen) or Diclofenac (Voltaren) for the next 24 hours as this may increase your risk of bruising.
  • There is a small risk of bruising. If this occurs do not worry as it will only be temporary, is minor and can easily be covered with makeup. Arnica tablets or Hirudoid cream helps reduce bruising time if it is of concern.
  • Your treatment will take 4-7 days to start working and it may take up to 2 full weeks to see the final result. If, after 2 weeks, you feel that you still have more muscle movement than you would like, then this can be adjusted at your post injection assessment.

DERMAL FILLERS

  • Do NOT consume alcohol for 24 hours after the treatment as this will increase your risk of bruising.
  • Paracetamol is recommended for any headaches or pain. Try to avoid medicines such as Ibuprofen (Neurofen) or Diclofenac (Voltaren) for the next 24 hours as this may increase your risk of bruising.
  • Try to avoid strenuous exercise on the day of treatment. You can recommence your regular exercise routine the day after your treatment.
  • It is recommended you avoid extended exposure to the sun or UV light and extended exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures including hot drinks (if your lips have been treated) for the next 24 hours.
  • There will be some swelling and bruising, however do not worry as it will only be temporary. Arnica tablets or Hirudoid cream can help if is of major concern.
  • You may feel lumps for up to 2 weeks after treatment, as you body adjusts to the new volume. After 24 hours has passed you may massage these out gently. Continue massaging twice per day until the lumps subside.

DERMAL FILLERS – CHEEKS & TEAR TROUGHS

In addition to the above post care instructions:

In addition to the above, avoid wearing sunglasses for the next 48 hours as they may press on placement of the filler. Please attempt to sleep on your back the day of the procedure to prevent placing pressure on your cheek filler. The next day after the procedure, please resume your normal sleep practices.

DERMAL FILLERS – LIPS

In addition to the above post care instructions:

  • Swelling and bruising is to be expected.
  • You are encouraged to commence massaging your lips twice a day once your swelling subsides.Continue this for 1-2 weeks until your lips feel nice and soft again. This will also prevent lumps from forming.
  • Do not ice your lips immediately after your treatment as this may affect the way the filler integrates into your tissues.
  • Arnica cream available from the chemist may assist with reducing your bruising faster.

CHEMICAL PEELS & MICRONEEDLING

You may experience redness for 1-12 hours after your chemical peel procedure. Your skin may feel tight and dry and you may experience flaking of the skin for up to 14 days.

  • Apply moisturiser as frequently as needed.
  • Do not attempt to peel or pick any skin that may be loose or flaking as this can cause  hyperpigmentation and scarring.
  • Do not apply any topical AHA or BHA products to the area for 5-7 days after your treatment as they may be irritating. E.g. Avoid Salacylic Acid, Vitamin A and Vitamin C creams.
  • It is recommended that you do not apply makeup the day of your treatment. It is ideal to allow the skin to stabilise and rest overnight. Makeup can be applied the following day if necessary.
  • Avoid sun exposure and excessive heat for at least 7 days (getting overheated internally can cause hyperpigmentation. Alway just sunscreen on your skin protection.
  • Do not have electrolysis, laser or wax to the treated area for at least 7 days.

For the next 2 days:

  • Do not apply ice or ice water to the treated areas.
  • Do not put the face directly into a hot shower spray. Do not use a steam room, Jacuzzi, or sauna.
  • Do not go swimming.
  • Do not participate in activities that would cause excessive perspiration.
  • Do not use a Buff-Puff or other means of mechanical exfoliation.
  • Do not direct a hair dryer onto treated areas.
